Windy City Jazz is owned and operated by Ian Tiele, who has been involved with jazz for over 30 years. Originally from Manchester, England, Ian started a jazz society in nearby Bury (Lancashire) in the late seventies, which is still going strong after more than 33 years. Ian was also the local jazz correspondent for the Bury Times newspaper. After moving to London in 1980, his job brought him in contact with several jazz musicians and bands, several of which he later managed and promoted, while running his own jazz booking and mangement agency. Two such client's were the extremely popular comedy-jazz outfit Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band and Vernon-Dudley Bohay-Nowell (ex-Bonzo Dog Do Dah Band). Ian also found work for many other jazz and blues musicians around the Greater London area. After several years of living in Brighton and Greater Manchester, Ian moved to Brookfield, Illinois, in 2002.

In the United States, Ian is founder and President of the highly successful Brookfield Jazz Society, that has put this small suburban town on the jazz map. The BJS has been so successful, that it now stages up to three live jazz events each month, as well as presenting jazz lectures and Jazz Movie Nights etc. Ian is also in charge of publicity and artist liaison for Chicago Sessions, a unique jazz record label that records the cream of Chicago's Jazz talent, and sells its all-original recordings both singly and by a twelve month subscription. So far, Chicago Sessions have recorded bands led by Larry Gray, Zvonimir Tot, Paulinho Garcia, Steve Hashimoto's Mothra, and Marshall Vente. Ian also reviews jazz and blues Books,CDs and DVDs for magazines and websites.

Ian served for over two years on the local Brookfield Village Special Events Committee, helping organize such events as the annual 3-day BrookFest, and he has organized the music for a day-long "Jazz Extraveganza" fundraiser for Brookfield's Irish Times restaurant, Brookfield Village's "Jazz in the Park" 2006 festival, "The 2008 Taste of Brookfield," and many other concerts/events around Chicago.
